Your TSU Joint PD Committee and the TCDSB have agreed upon a letter of understanding approving up to 2 teacher self directed PD Days per TSU member, effective this spring! Up to another two, per teacher, will also be available next school year. You cannot be denied these days. They are for you to book professional development days that YOU decide are important for you, the teacher. Not admin. Not the board! But you!!!
You can make up your own PD activities alone, or with other teachers. You could attend an outside conference or PD related activity, booking it yourself on SEMS. The possibilities for some REAL meaningful teacher directed PD days are outstanding. Final details are to be hammered out next Tuesday, when your Joint PD committee [Rene Jensen, Teresa Placha, Lou Trinchi and myself] meet again with the the board. More details will follow.
