Christmas Gifts + Blog Housekeeping

It's a very cold Friday at the end of the first week in December. School will soon be out for Christmas. Before that there will be plenty of protests, job actions and strikes if you are an OSSTF, or ETFO member. Lots to sort out if you are with OECTA. Then there is Christmas shopping and the holiday preparations.

Please don't give anyone the satisfaction of ruining your Christmas over our contracts!

Christmas is a religious holiday for some, a family or personal holiday for others, and a huge marketing scam all around. I've given up on Christmas shopping again this year because all I find are things for myself. Thank God for Janet! It's not a question of money. I will give it to her to go buy gifts. She is very good at this. On Christmas Day folks will thank me for the "nice gift". Give me a big kiss, hug or shake my hand. I will have no idea what I gave them so I will just smile and say, "I thought you'd like it!".

It works! Just so long as we leave it at that. Kinda sad I know but true. I'm just not very good at Christmas shopping. Then afterwards there's the dilemma of what to do about the closet full of gifts we got. I will fretfully save them until we either re-gift, or give the whole lot to Goodwill. It's very important not to give the gift back to the same person who gave it to you!

Art pictures, framed photographs, wall hangings and other objects de art? Listen! I've got that one figured out! Hide them behind the sofa. Whenever the folk who gave it to you are coming over, take it out and put it somewhere prominent, just like it is always there. They will be pleased.

I like cheesy stuff, tack and chintz but not many people know how to select that. As far as everything else goes I collect vast quantities of music, some books, and we have paintings and photos up pretty much everywhere that I like and Janet will accept, or vice versa, except in my man cave which is pretty much all my own. Wall to wall music, stereo equipment and books. Janet will venture in on a wifely reconnaissance once and awhile. Rearrange something. Alas! It's tough living in the first world eh? But enough of my conundrums.....

Here is what I am doing for the next few days on my blogspot. Lots of teacher news is coming in fast and furious. I often have a number of threads happening simultaneously with more to come, as I do now. Some will interest you. Others not. I will post the bulk of my updated teacher news links on a "Weekend News Link blog" later today so that they don't get lost all over the place.

You will have noticed these news link blogs before if you have been reading me for awhile. You might not. I seem to be averaging about 500-1000 reader visits a day now which is great. Please keep sharing my link. I've been labelled everything from the [Unofficial] Voice of OECTA to the OECTA Fox Network. In fact, the views expressed here are my own. I try to provide links to and consider all points of view so that you my fellow teachers are informed and in the know. However, this is just my own unofficial teacher dissent site. So if you are confused about what's going on here, or whom I represent, well hopefully you will now understand.

Also please note if you don't know all ready that the blogs get pushed down the page as each new one is posted. It is now set for 5 blogs to be displayed. Below the last one is my Blog Archive with links, by date and title of everything you don't see. Hope this helps!
