OECTA Provincial AGM 2013 is next weekend from Friday March 9th through Monday March 12th. Expect a lot of action this year! With the controversial MOU, a presidential election, and the task force motions on the floor, it promises to be the most interesting + important OECTA AGM in memory. In advance of the Friday night delegate arrivals I have sent out an email invitation to all the candidates running in the provincial executive race this year. I would be pleased to either host a guest blog or post your answers to the attached questionnaire. I will post them for all who reply without, of course, comment or prejudice.

In response to my OECTA reader concerns, the following questions have been sent out to each OECTA Provincial executive candidate:
1] Why did you vote
for/against the OECTA MOU?
2] Do you believe it
is still the right decision you made? Why or why not?
3] What would you do
to improve OECTA’s communications with our membership?
4] Would you support
“one member one vote” for executive elections + union referendums on other
issues besides contract ratification?
4] How has our
solidarity with the other affiliates been affected over the past year? Does the situation pose a future danger? What can OECTA do to foster union solidarity
in the next 2 years ahead?
5] How can we protect
and enhance local Collective Bargaining if the government wants to move towards
a Provincial Bargaining model?
6a] What do you think
is the greatest problem OECTA faces today?
b] What strengths do you
bring to helping solve it?
c] How do we know
that you are committed to working for us, the membership, if we elect you to
represent us?
Optional: Is there
anything else you would like to add? If so please comment.
The replies will be posted by those who choose to reply between today and 12 noon on Friday. On Friday I can't promise that you will be the top blog story. I will post an easy to use direct link to all your replies so they don't get lost in the shuffle regardless of when they arrive.
