My updated teacher news links follow below!
I've just learned Friday 3:45 pm's protest rally outside of Premier Wynne's constituency office at 785 Elglinton Ave East Unit 101 has been rescheduled to Friday May 3, same time, same place. Please let everyone know!
The upside to the delay is that we all have more time to organize + get our flags and more members out. Wouldn't it be great if we can present an united all affiliate teacher demonstration of dedication + strength to remind the Premier + Education Minister that we are still here. We are not going away!
ETFO stands alone in not having signed a deal. They need our support now more than ever. It can be very discouraging after one rallies for the teacher cause + gets everybody up and out. Then many members fizzle out. BTAIM OSSTF + ETFO have politicized their members. You will be ready if [when?] we go to war with the Torys in the weeks or months ahead. Always, in such protest movements as we have seen over the past year, there will be a new hardened group of protester activists who will carry on the fight, even after everyone else has seems to have gone home, or as in OECTA's case, most of the members, with some notable exceptions, didn't come out at all.
We are the important + necesary vanguard that marches on through thick and thin because of our unflinching belief in the principles of our teacher union movement. My blog has many readers from around the world. In many if not most countries they are surprised at how much we have accomplished as Ontario teacher unionists, as disheartening as it has sometimes been for us over the years. Our fight must go on, even if there are only a small handful of dedicated protesters,to remind Premier Wynne + the OLP that our fight is not over. If everybody can bring out a contingent of their school + union colleagues, all the better. Either way it is necessary work!
I look forward to seeing you all there. Besides protesting, I hope to get some good photos + a blog story to send out to my many readers, reminding everybody that our struggle is not over. We are here! We will not be going away or backing down regardless of what happens or everybody else does. Make no mistake, the good fight will carry on!

Go get 'em David. Too bad the OECTA executive are such cowards. They lick Wynne's Liberal boots.
Will do!!!
OECTA is under new management come July 1st.
Can't wait for the new management! It's too bad we don't have immediate impeachment like the Americans do!
David, what to do about those who have returned to extracurriculars, and left a giant elephant in the room? Until now, public schools have largely been civil places to come to work each day, in spite of the labour turmoil. Those that have left the pride, and joined the tigers (forgive the metaphor), are difficult to face each day, let alone work along side in a professional environment. Any advice?
Love the blog, thanks!!!
Unfortunately the OLRB has ruled the unions cant advise the teachers not to strike. They are agreeing for now tho there is the constitutional challenge. Its up to each of us individually which undermines the effect. I can sense your frustration.
I myself do not participate nor enable others who do so by helping in any way shape or form. If anybody asks i explain why. I note i am volunteering my extra time to helping with union work, which can be even more time consuming and simply not available fo ny ec's on principle or because of that if i want to make a point. Otherwise i feel no obligation to say anything at all.
PS: it is necessary to act professionally in working with the others in carrying out our duties but that does not mean i need to socialize if i otherwise find their behaviour unacceptable myself. I have made plenty of other union friends thr helping out my unit who i have a lot more in common with and to be quite frank, much more fun too. Never a dull moment.
Hope this helps in some way.
