The by-election reports + updates have been moved to my July 22 blog except for below.
Greetings from Toronto, in the midst of a heatwave, with a smog and humidity alert, and summer in full swing! [ed:The temperature with humidity has hit the 40+ C range!] I keep planning to go outside to do something but on t.v. they keep telling folks to stay indoors, so who am I to argue? Ha. I still usually don't get much further than my balcony, where I am sitting now enjoying my morning coffee + watching everybody scurry about on the street below. I can see the high arch of the big jets passing silently overhead as they arrive and depart from Pearson International Airport over the horizon to the west. It's quite pleasant enough for me.
I turn off the air conditioning when I awake. Open all the windows to let the breeze in. We get the late day sun, so it's quite nice. I close the windows again before Janet gets home from work, so it's nice and cool for her. I myself, don't mind the heat. I live for it all year. I can only wish I was on a beach somewhere, but for this July it is not to be. Now that I've retired I can go anytime so why hurry? Might as well wait until it gets cold again. Brrrrr! Anyway, I won't belabour this today.
Some reader news: I am starting a complete Ontario by-election watch blog. I'm expanding my coverage to cover all 5 races. It will include links to my existing blogs for Etobicoke Lakeshore, and London West which I will continue on the new blog. If you see any local links to news stories we should know about, please forward them to me here by email, or in the Comment section below. Guest blogs from the ground level in the different ridings would be pretty cool too.
I plan to divide the blog into sections for each riding. Being on summer hours, I will continue setting it up over the next few days as we enter the homestretch to election day on August 1st. Keep checking back.
Here's a backgrounder for today Wednesday July 17th, on the 5 by-elections across the province, to get started @ Interactive Guide Other links continue above ....
Cheers/ Solidarity!
David C.
PS: I have another guest blog almost ready to post too. You might have seen it for a bit late last night. Regretfully I had to take it back down because of technical difficulties with the typeset and spacing. So please note Andy Wilson's "OSSTF: Let's Talk Politics" is coming! In the meantime Tim Heffernan's guest blog on "OSSTF Betrayed" below is still getting hundreds of readers hits so check it out if you haven't all ready.
PPS: To my Russian readers: My blog art work with the Soviet Space Program + Propaganda Posters is changing. Please copy anything you want to save. Lots more pictures will be coming. I will keep you in mind. It seems we have the same sense of humour. :-)
