As classes began on Tuesday, I went for a swim out to the
middle of Lake Mississaganon and
floated on my back savouring the peace and solitude. Then I went for a nice
walk in the woods. I can’t say I miss the first day of school or the new school
year for that matter. Nope. Then again, I’m retired. I've paid my dues. You will too,
someday, as the pages of time continue to flip quickly into the future.
2014-15?!? They sound like something out of a science fiction movie to me, but
no, they are here! My teacher free
speech blog continues however! The cause seems never done!
What can you look forward to here on my site? My Teacher News and Views Link service
will continue again soon, as usual. There will be more blogs on various issues
of interest as they arise. There are more below. In the Archive below this column you can find over 500 blogs quite extensively covering our teacher life, times and developments from 2011 to present. In
addition there will be my travel blogs,
music reviews, and other articles and features of interest
for those of you who visit here to read them instead.
Should you just be returning to my site after the summer holidays you can find the relevant teacher and union, political party
and other news links from over the holidays here! As you know, there was a surprise Liberal majority landslide in the June election Here, with a summer legislative session that followed. The Ontario PC party is looking towards a leadership campaign over the course of the next year. To see
how poor old Tim Hudak got his just
deserts go here! Meanwhile teacher contract talks are off to a
slow start. Indeed the last one expired
August 31st. Congratulations, you are now without a contract!
Doubtless, there will be a lot more on this to come, but in the meantime for a thorough Bill 122 Collective Bargaining Study Guide with links to the
relevant materials and the progress to date please see here!
I posted a few travel blogs on my trip to England here, here and France here. To Jamaica
here! Then there’s tales of my adventures in Land of the Lakes Here! As well, I am knocking off a Bob Marley and the Wailers
retrospective here with an ongoing
series of their album reviews starting there!
Remember, guest blogs
are always welcome. Details here! There’s
a very interesting teacher provincial
election and contract politics analysis
from an OSSTF guest blogger for your
perusal here. You also can of course
post comments and engage on a respectful teacher free speech debate
as usual using the link below each blog. News and analysis from our teachers in
the field and in the know are always much appreciated. Think about it! The site
has now received over 475,000 reader
visits. You will be well read and get to have your say on the pressing
issues of the day!
So. Let the new school year begin …….
