The blog on "Keep North's" well intentioned missive has been withdrawn pending further clarification. It is widely available online and has been shared elsewhere with the office and members of all affiliates, before I received it. It is written as a "Draft" for an OSSTF doc but is NOT an official OSSTF document. Although it provides a lot of worthwhile food for thought, as the author intended, they write:
OSSTF did not provide this chart. I asked for the comparison. They wouldn't provide it. So I did the comparison myself .... The sources are the contract and TA in PEEL and Peel only.Teacher Free Speech regrets any misunderstandings and thanks "Keep North" with sharing their thoughts!

IMHO: OSSTF has a proud history of contract negotiations with many important gains being made for the labour movement over the years. However, the 2012/13 MOU's weren't anybody's finest hour! Regretfully, they cannot be ignored, though I understand the writers concern with emphasizing OSSTF's best bargaining traditions.
However, the MOU contract strips, in my opinion, cannot be accepted, nor ignored. They should've been a roll back point from which ALL of the current teacher affiliates contract negotiations began. To act otherwise is to defacto accept them and buy into the Neo Lib austerity agenda, when contract strips were and always should be the direct opposite of a progressive union thrust.
Where would I find the "draft" online David?

Ontario's government makes poor mounds of it when it comes time for teacher bargaining ( teachers wages frozen for the last 4 years) and failing to give even a raise that covers the cost of living but it has no problem coming up with 10.5 million dollars for transporting refugees to Ontario and the attendant costs associated with that venture. This is despite Ontario's deficit and the high rate of unemployment here. Ontario has its priorities straight and its waste is once again getting subsidized on the backs of teachers and other education workers.
You have to be an OECTA member to get access to the "deal" at the OECTA Provincial website. I can see why the unions would want to hide the tentative agreement as it is so lousy for their members! Surprise, surprise! Repetez vous 2012 (with some more contract strips)..
