Come to the Toronto Rally Against Trump!

This Saturday, November 19th from 12 to 4 pm Toronto protesters will rally at City Hall, come rain or shine! We'll march to the Trump Tower on Bay St! Our cities LGBTQ, Muslim, black and and other racial minority communities desperately need you to help speak out against racism, misogyny and intolerance! [Details]

Please come! President Elect Trump was quite clear in his daily attacks on the campaign trail that there is a New Order of things stateside. It's an ugly sight indeed! Don't let any of our fellow Canadians, whom might be confused or misguided, think that is acceptable or okay here!

Teachers and Education Workers: Our local and provincial CUPE, ETFO, OECTA, and OSSTF union affiliates can walk the solidarity walk for inclusiveness beyond the classroom, for our students living here, by coming and bringing your flags along. But will you? Remember, our actions speak louder than words! Enough talk, talk, talk!

The event could use some teacher volunteers to help out as marshals and so on. Many of us have extensive experience with that from over the years. If you can help out, please leave a message on Facebook @  Dana

It's time to put our foot down now, before it's too late! If you are in doubt about the very real fears that exist right here in Toronto please see my blog on last Sunday's rally @ Here!

Please also read the news links under "Toronto Ontario Canada" on this month's Teacher Free Speech November News + Views blog @ Here!

Rumours that this Saturday's rally has been cancelled are wrong! A counter rally is apparently planned, and the police have been consulted accordingly. Security arrangements are in place. Some of us are also volunteering to help marshal the event.

Say no to bigotry!

Hope to see you there!

PS: Lots of updates and news links etc are @ Facebook

Hi Histronics:

Regretfully I need to refuse your Comment. Please reword the student reference if you wish to resubmit. My blogsite remains welcome to alternate teacher points of view.

Thanks!

David:political correctness will be our downfall. Being truthful about students; calling them lazy, beligerent, rude etc is no longer allowed in the classroom. I lived the nightmare in the past year before my retirement in June. I'm am so grateful that teachers in my day called me out for innappropriate behaviour. We cannot do it anymore. Obama never called out the terrorists. From what group are most of the terrorists created? We know that answer but we are too politically correct to say it. Trump and his growing cabinet are not so politically correct and that has half of America in a tizzy and the other half has decided that is what they want. They do not want a candy ass president who will give amnesty to illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. They do not want a president who will continue to enlarge the enormous wall around the elites. Now, Trump may very well do the same but at least it is a change for the sake of change. When students and society don't get their way, they cry. Why would people in Toronto want to protest an American election? Is it just because his insulting style has upset people. I have seen it all in my 31 years of teaching. Making me out to be the villain because I'm a little hard on lazy, rude and disrespectful students was a tough pill to swallow in my last year. Watching younger teachers completely ignore these behaviours (what has happended in faculties of education) has created a very scary school system. I love the kick ass style of Trump. No amnesty. You mess up get out of here.
